Hair Question

My daughter has Marisol and her hair is not as silky as it use to be.

Is there anything that can be used on it to fix this (like a kid's leave in conditioner)?

Has anyone tried to wash or make it silky again and if so, what is the procedure...(just a conditioner, shampoo & Conditioner, etc)

I'm afraid to mess with it because I don't want to ruin it but then again, I'd love to have it silky again.

There are many more details in the album, but I recommend using a synthetic wig shampoo and then Downey for the conditioner. Human shampoo and conditioner are made for human hair, which is made of protein. These wigs are made of synthetic hair, which is made of something like nylon.

After you get her hair silky again, your daughter should use a spray-on conditioner or detangler whenever she brushes her hair. At the very least, she should spritz with water.
For detangler, I prefer Biolage's version or the Walmart brand of Johnson & Johnson's No More Tangles. It may be that a good spritzing of this and a brushing is all she needs, depending on how bad it has gotten.

In detangling the horse manes and tails for the MCM sale, I found the Downey anti-wrinkle spray to be very helpful, or a solution of one cap-full of regular Downey-Free in a spray-bottle of water. Steaming also goes a long ways towards relaxing tangles. Keep remembering that doll hair is like a fabric. [img]wink.gif[/img]

I loved the restore album.

Can you just try a leave-in conditioner or you have to go through the whole wash/condition process? I'm so afraid of ruining the hair...

Also, must you steam the hair afterwards or can you just air-dry it?

I don't have a regular steamer but I do have one of those Jet Air curling irons if anyone remember them from tv. It doesn't use heat, it makes steam with water. If I need a steamer, would this work?

I've been using detangling sprays or spray-on leave in conditioner on my dolls for years, well before I ever had AGs. There are no ill-effects, although some brands are heavier than others. I prefer the most light, which I have found in the brands I listed above. These types of conditioners are often used on synthetic wigs for humans as well.

Thanks. Maybe I'll try the detangling spray first. Her hair is not too bad but if it comes to that stage, I'll definately go through the whole process.

As much as my daughter plays with her dolls, I'd hate to go thru that all the time.
